The $5 Challenge
What can YOU do with $5 and 3 hours?

Cornell's Microfinance Club presents you the Second Annual $5 Dollar Challenge, inspired by Tina Seelig's best-seller "What I wish I knew when I was 20.."

We CHALLENGE you, in teams of 2-4, to make the most money or derive the most social impact out of $5 in just 2 hours in Ithaca.
WE will give YOU $5 on the morning of the event, Saturday, April 13th at 11am in GSH76 (Lewis Auditorium). We are providing brunch: Dunkin' Donuts and coffee. You have three hours, from 12:00-3:00 pm, to create as much economic and/or social capital as possible.

2 - 3 minute verbal presentations on what you did and judging will be held right after your two hours starting at 3:30 pm in the same room (GSH76 Lewis Auditorium). You will be judged on CREATIVITY and the DERIVED VALUE (amount of money and/or social impact).

Prizes:
1st Place: $300
2nd Place: $200
3rd Place: $100
Cornell store gift cards (amounts TBD) for 4th and 5th places!
You get to keep whatever money you made, AND have a chance to win one of the prizes. It's a win-win.
Register as a team or as an individual (we'll place you in a team) at http://microfinance.wix.com/cornell#!5dollars/cmel BY Thursday, April 11 at 10 pm.

PAST EXAMPLES:
How to use $5 and 2 hours:
Buy a lottery ticket. Set up a bike pumping stand on Ho Plaza. Have a bake sale in Mann Library. Buy a cardboard and raise awareness for OWS, or against it.

How to use neither $5 nor 2 hours:
Sell a corporate sponsorship. That is, tell a business that you will use your presentation time (2-3mins) for an advertisement to Cornell students. And have your presentation just be one big advertisement.

How to use 2 hours and no money:
Call up all the popular restaurants in Ithaca. Book many reservation times at peak times. Then, advertise that you are selling reservation times at different restaurants. Or, just sell those reservations to people who are waiting outside the restaurants. Make a lot of money.
